Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Askdeclan (askdeclan.com) collects, why, and what you can do about it. We've written it in plain English. If anything is unclear, contact us.

Information you give us

When you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you enter. When you sign up for our newsletter, the form provider collects your email address and any other details the form asks for. We use this information to reply to you and to send the emails you asked for. We don't sell it.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our server keeps standard logs, which can include your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of the request. We use logs to keep the site running and secure.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Askdeclan itself doesn't need cookies to show you an article. Some third-party services on the site may set their own cookies, as described below. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work.

Google Analytics

We may use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read and how people find us. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as pages visited, approximate location and device type. Google's own privacy policy explains how it handles that data. You can install Google's opt-out browser add-on if you'd rather not be counted.

Advertising

Ads on Askdeclan are delivered through Revive Adserver, loaded from servedby.revive-adserver.net. The ad server and the advertisers it works with may use cookies or similar technology to show ads, limit how often you see the same one, and measure whether ads are viewed or clicked. We don't give advertisers your name or email address.

Newsletter form provider

Our newsletter signup form is embedded from link.sphere-crm.com. Information you enter in that form goes to the provider so they can manage the mailing list on our behalf. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe.

Headlines from other sites and external links

Some pages show headlines from other publishers' public RSS feeds. We fetch those feeds on our own server, so showing a headline doesn't send your information to that publisher. If you click through, you're on their site and their privacy policy applies. The same goes for any external link.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information. If you're in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the GDPR and UK GDPR give you the right to access, correct or delete your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. If you're a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what we collect, to ask us to delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We don't sell personal information. Other US states, Canada and Australia have their own privacy laws, and we'll honor reasonable requests wherever you live.

To make a request, contact us. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on it.

How long we keep information

We keep contact messages only as long as we need them to respond and keep reasonable records. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security.

Children

Askdeclan is written for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under 16 where local law sets that age. If you think a child has sent us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
